Dramatic Paws!

The focus of the project is to work with a group of young people aged 13-17 from across the Stockport area to deliver an exciting new film and animation project.
The project will take place at Stockport Art Gallery during the summer holidays and will use the gallery’s amazing, Olivia Brown installation of 110 ceramic dogs on roller skates – “Reggie’s Roller Palace” as inspiration.
Workshops will cover all areas of animation and moving images, explaining how animation and television work. A variety of areas of animation will be covered including stop motion, flipbooks, zoetropes, rotoscoping, computer generated and traditional animation.
A selection of the work created by the young people will be available to be viewed online and will be exhibited at several venues across Greater Manchester. We will be also holding a screening of the work at Stockport Art Gallery in September.
Workshops will be run by experienced animator Luke Marsh who has worked for Cosgrove Hall, ITV, Channel 4 and CBBC on a number of projects including Dr Who.
The project will be delivered in partnership with Stockport Art Gallery and is open for applications. We will be offering 3 taster workshops for a maximum of 12 people per session as part of a recruitment process. These sessions will help prospective participants understand the film and animation making process and the level of commitment needed for the project.
Taster Workshops:
Thursday 3rd June 2-4pm
Saturday 5th June 10am-12pm
Saturday 5th June 1-3pm
The actual project will then run at the gallery on:
Saturdays: 24th & 31st July, 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th August 1-4pm
Wednesdays: 28th July, 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th August 1-4pm
